Pain Relief
It is important that you take regular simple analgesia once you get home. Panadol and anti-inflammatory with food such as nurofen will help control pain.
Wound care
Leave the dressing over your wound on for approximately 5 days after you operation. The dressing on your thigh where the skin graft is taken (donor site), is to remain on for 10-14 days, the donor site can smell during this time, it is quite normal for this to happen.
Exercise
As instructed by Prof Barbour, keep your leg up as much as possible. Limit your walking as much as possible in the first week after your operation. Gently walking around the house is recommended.
Follow up
Unless advised otherwise, after you get home from hospital, please contact the office on 3847 7133 to make your appointment to see Prof Barbour in 1 – 2 weeks time. Prof Barbour will look at your wound and inform you about your pathology at this time. You will also see the practice nurse at this time.
